Ishmael Beah
I was really glad that I went to the Ishmael Beah convo. I thought it was one of those experiences that will stay with you for a while and holds some food for thought. More than that, it puts a face to the story that we read in a personal way, rather than just a picture on the back cover. I was surprised that he as small as he was, but even more surprising was his presence. His past seemed to behind him and not in control of him. His insight to what happened around the book and how it came about I thought was interesting. Lastly, I thought it was great touch that the audience and Beah both brought up music.

I am also glad that I went to see Ishmael speak. He put the story into better perspective actually being there and talking about it. It is an interesting point you made that his past is behind him and not in control of him.
